Sunday dinner

Below are pictures of my mom and mother-in-law. My mother is suffering from dementia and spends most afternoons with me. My mother-in-law is staying with us this month. She suffers glaucoma, cataracts and degeneration. It is hard sometimes taking care of two elderly ladies everyday. I wish I could play with my children and grandchildren more. Sometimes the pressures are overwhelming, but then I say to my self or remind myself that it is a chance to serve others and these others are people I love. I have a chance to be the hands of Jesus and take care of two of his beloved daughters. When I get to the point that I do not have to remind myself how important serving and loving others is I will be a much better person.

Afton just turned 97 years old on Saturday. It is amazing how healthy and smart she is for a 97 year young women. It was a great day for her. We had a dinner with her kids and people called and sent her birthday wishes. We celebrated with her on Sunday. We had a cake made of yummy cupcakes. She is blowing out her candles. She is an amazing example, to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, of love and devotion to her family. She surrounded herself with her family all her life and loved them above all else.

Good by to Christmas. I knew they were coming to take our Christmas lights down a couple of weeks ago. I hurried out and took a picture of our house. There are some things I love most about Christmas and that is the lights. I am always sad when the decorations come down. They make our world brighter. So Good by for a few months and I will be looking forward to welcome Spring as soon as possible and along with Spring comes two new Granddaughters . It has been almost 4 years since we have had a new cute baby to snuggle in the H. household.
