Great Grandma Harding

The last few months

I am trying to post a few pictures of the last few months. I felt like the last few months had been a real trial until I looked at the pictures and was reminded how blessed and mostly happy my life really is. The bad was my brother (single-50years-mental illness) was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. It was a huge blow. He entered 7 weeks of chemo and radiation, is having surgery in a couple of weeks, and then has 4 months of killer chemo. Hard times for him and he needs massive amounts of help getting through it. The blessing is his body is strong, and he seems to handle chemo and radiation really well. The other hard thing is my baby sister, whom I loved, shot herself on December 1st 2011. I can hardly talk about it. I miss her, but I do know that she is in a better place. She also was single and suffered from depression for most of her life. I think she was 47 had fought as hard as she could and couldn't fight anymore. It still breaks my heart and I miss her. I hope I can upload some of my pictures because there is too much joy to dwell on the bad for too long.

Sunday dinner

Below are pictures of my mom and mother-in-law. My mother is suffering from dementia and spends most afternoons with me. My mother-in-law is staying with us this month. She suffers glaucoma, cataracts and degeneration. It is hard sometimes taking care of two elderly ladies everyday. I wish I could play with my children and grandchildren more. Sometimes the pressures are overwhelming, but then I say to my self or remind myself that it is a chance to serve others and these others are people I love. I have a chance to be the hands of Jesus and take care of two of his beloved daughters. When I get to the point that I do not have to remind myself how important serving and loving others is I will be a much better person.

Afton just turned 97 years old on Saturday. It is amazing how healthy and smart she is for a 97 year young women. It was a great day for her. We had a dinner with her kids and people called and sent her birthday wishes. We celebrated with her on Sunday. We had a cake made of yummy cupcakes. She is blowing out her candles. She is an amazing example, to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, of love and devotion to her family. She surrounded herself with her family all her life and loved them above all else.
